Ajillus takes a
proven, but rapid, approach to WMS projects. Depending upon the outcome of Phase 1,
this project approach can lead down a number of paths to a successful WMS implementation.
A sample project approach is outlined below.
PHASE 1: DISCOVER
Identify operational issues and
improvement
opportunities.
Gather data on-site.
Define process flows and
description of operations.
Define existing system
interfaces and future requirements.
Quantify WMS return on
investment ("ROI") for various implementation scenarios (e.g. off-the-shelf,
custom, rentable).
Customer selects scenario.
PHASE 2: CONCEPTUALIZE
Perform vendor prequalification.
Develop future business
requirements.
Develop system alternatives.
Develop and issue bid
specifications.
Establish bid evaluation process
and criteria.
Interact with vendors (visits,
interviews, system reviews).
Evaluate bids.
Submit bid evaluation report
with gap analysis.
Jointly select vendor.
Publish final recommendations.
Publish implementation timeline.
PHASE 3: ARCHITECT
Support final negotiations.
Finalize any design
specifications.
Define any system modifications
or interface specifications.
Evaluate / select miscellaneous
equipment (e.g. RF, scanners, scales, computers).
Develop accceptance test plan.
Develop training plan.
Develop detailed implementation
schedule.
PHASE 4: CAPITALIZE
Develop contingency plan.
Oversee any system
modifications.
Execute acceptance testing . . .
track open issues' resolution.
Oversee standard operation
procedure development.
Execute training plan.
Support data conversion.
Support system go-live startup.
Oversee budget, timeline and
quality tracking.
Implement performance
measurements.
Close out implementation phase
and transition to operations.
PHASE 5: VALIDATE
Perform post-implementation
audit.
Assess ROI versus projected.
Make necessary changes to meet
or exceed ROI.
Submit report to client
documenting ROI.
